Ruta – Route

The route information below displays information regarding the path followed by Christopher Howe, walking from Los Angeles to San Salvador, and the speculative route south from El Salvador to Brazil.

There are a few things worth mentioning regarding the maps and the routes below. There are many more things worth mentioning at a later time. For now, many have asked about the plans to cross the Darien Gap in southern Panama, and you will notice that Bing.com does not calculate the possibility of travel to this region. There are currently no roads that join the two continents together. That said, it is possible to cross the Darien on foot, though we are not sure if this has actually been done before, at least entirely on foot (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darien_gap).

The other item of interest is the section below Bogota. Like the Darien, there are no roads that join Columbia and Brazil, though the two countries do share a common border. The best maps we have seen indicate that a road runs south from Bogota for a few hundred kilometers before being absorbed by the Amazon.

There is another route that instead follows Columbia´s Pacific coast, crosses through Ecuador and Peru, before arriving in the Brazilian state of Acre near the town Mundau. In the first vision, Christopher is clear that it was a straight line shot through the forest to Brazil. We still are not sure how or if this is possible until the moment comes to decide which route he will take. The promise is to walk to Brazil, we still are not sure how this can or will be done.

Please also note the maps below do not represent the actual distances, as many are, unfortunately, inaccurate. Not sure how much that matters really. It is a long way.
