Coastal Chiapas

As I walk south, these economic pilgrims from Guatemala make their way north. The journey costs them approximately $7-10,000 USD depending on the coyote(s) who feret them from one place to the next, dogging immigration officials, jumping off moving trains, with all of their life´s posessions for the next few years that they will work to make the journey worth while.

The average household income in Guatemala is $5000 USD per year. Not much when you consider the majority of households have between 4-10 children. The child malnutrician rate is 80%.

Description: Chiapas is amazing. My only regret is that I wasnt able to spend more time there. Really feeling the pinch of time as my visa was running out, i was running to the border with Guatemala as quickly as I could. Again, without batteries or money to replace them, I was only able to squeeze out a few shots of this beautiful countryside.
Location: Chiapas
