Basilica de Guadalupe

Pilgrims make their way on foot, sometimes part, or all on their knees, to the center of Catholic faith in Mexico.
The words at the bottom strike the tone for the whole basilica complex, perhaps the tone for the last 500 years, and the mark the path for the role of Guadalupe in the conversion of indegenous people to the Catholic faith throughout the Americas. At the basilica (actually not a basicalica, but a round cathedral) you somehow feel compelled, repulsed, inspired by the love for our universal mother.
Indigenous peoples from many tribes come to Mary's arms.
Prayers of thanks, gratitude, and asking for the Virgin Mother. This is Billy's prayer (see blog - www.iamwalking.org - or notes here on facebook). Billy was an older, sterotypical, white trash character whose story teaches us all not to judge the depths of the human heart. Barely literate, Billy wrote this letter for his mother, telling her he loves her, in a goodbye letter. Billy's mother died in Mexico City 1 year ago, and he was unable to attend her funeral...He asked me to take this card for him here.
Details of the lighting and roof beams.
The market outside of the complex, offer blessings for the home.

Description: This point marks the near 1/2 way point for me and was a source of major inspiration as I walked to come here. People from all over Mexico journey here, many on foot, for weeks on end to visit the Basilica de Guadadlupe
Location: Mexico City
